The Department of Chicano/Latino Studies at UC Irvine Offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to explore the historical, cultural, and contemporary experiences of Chicana/o and Latina/o/é populations across the united states and the broader diaspora through diverse scholarly perspectives.

 
Our curriculum fosters awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of the contributions that Chicana/o and Latina/o/é communities have made to American society and the world. This diverse population includes individuals with heritage from México, Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and other Latin American nations.

Our faculty teach courses and conduct research across a wide range of fields, including:

  • Humanities: History, Film, Music, Performance, Art, Dance, and Literature
  • Social Sciences: Education, Politics, Sociology, Culture, Immigration, and Law
  • Latina/o Health: Psychology, Public Health, and Medicine
